Children's Education

Education in Cambodia continues to feel the effects of the Khmer Rouge regime, during which an estimated 90% of schools were destroyed. The impact of this period is still evident today, with an entire generation having missed out on formal education.

For many families, this legacy continues to shape opportunity. When parents have had limited access to schooling and face ongoing financial hardship, children are far more likely to leave education early or not attend at all—perpetuating a cycle that is difficult to break.

This is where our work begins…

Education That Opens Doors

At the heart of our work in Cambodia is a simple belief: education creates opportunity. Our programme supports around 200 children, beginning in the early years and continuing through to early secondary level, giving them the tools they need to build brighter futures.

Working alongside local schools, students attend our classes for half the day, where dedicated local teachers provide a well-rounded education. Lessons blend Khmer and English with subjects such as science, maths, geography, technology, art, and physical education—helping children grow in confidence, curiosity, and capability.

Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to explore and discover. A small library nurtures a love of reading, while our computer room introduces essential digital skills, opening a window to the wider world.

State School Support

Education doesn’t stop at our gates. We work closely with local state schools to support children in continuing their formal education, providing essentials such as bicycles, uniforms, and school supplies—items that can make the difference between attending school or staying home.

Our social work team partners with families and schools to address the challenges that often lead to children dropping out. Many children are at risk of leaving school early to work or care for younger siblings, and we aim to remove these barriers so they can stay in education. By easing financial pressures and offering ongoing support, we help children stay in the classroom and focused on their future.

For many children, that journey begins even earlier…

Early Years

Strong foundations begin early. In a community where access to early childhood education is limited, we provide a safe and nurturing space for children aged 3 to 4 to begin their learning journey.

Children learn through play—developing early numeracy, Khmer literacy, and a gentle introduction to English. These early experiences build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

And as our students grow, so do their ambitions…

University and Vocational Scholarships

For many of our students, education is a pathway to new possibilities. We continue to support them beyond secondary school, offering sponsorship for university degrees and vocational training.

Whether pursuing higher education or practical skills, we aim to equip young people with the knowledge and opportunities they need to build independent and meaningful futures.

Be part of the change—help create brighter futures through education.
